Ich freue mich sehr, nun zum vierten Mal bei „Journal Of Field Study International – Field Report 2021″ dabei zu sein.
Der Field Report, herausgegeben von David Dellafiora, ist das Jahrbuch von Field Study International, das seit 1996 in Form eines Sammelbandes erscheint. Künstler sind eingeladen, Seiten zu gestalten, die als „Field Study Emanation“ konzipiert ist. Die Arbeiten umfassen Dokumentationen von Performances, Aktionen, Anweisungen, Manifesten, Reiseberichten, Traktaten, Tiraden, Anweisungen, Manifesten, Reflexionen und Experimenten. Jede Ausgabe enthält die Arbeiten von etwa fünfzig Künstlern. Format: 14,5x21cm, drahtgebunden, handgestempelt, nummeriert.

I am very pleased to be a part of „Journal Of Field Study International – Field Report 2021″ now for the fourth time.
Field Report, edited by David Dellafiora, is the yearbook of Field Study International, published in anthology form since 1996. Artists are invited to create pages, which is conceived as a „Field Study Emanation.“ The works include documentation of performances, actions, instructions, manifestos, travelogues, tracts, rants, instructions, manifestos, reflections, and experiments. Each issue contains the works of about fifty artists. Size: 14,5x21cm, wire bound, hand stamped, numbered.

Dies ist mein Beitrag zum „Journal Of Field Study International – Field Report 2021″
Diesmal: 100 Kopien, nummeriert und signiert, zum Thema Sammelmagazine, bei denen ich 2021 häufig mitgemacht habe.
Hier der Text, den ich dazu geschrieben habe:
Sammelmagazine / Assembling Zines
Das Konzept des Assembling Zines wurde in den späten 1960ger Jahren entwickelt:„Die Mitwirkenden reichen eine bestimmte Anzahl von Exemplaren ihrer Arbeiten bei einem zentralen Redakteur ein, der wiederum ein Exemplar aus den Einsendungen jedes Künstlers zum endgültigen „assemblierten“ Produkt zusammenstellt, wobei die Anzahl der Künstler, die Arbeiten einreichen, die Anzahl der Seiten in jedem Assembler bestimmt. Die Aufmachung des endgültigen Magazins ist unterschiedlich, einige haben lose Umschläge, in die die Seiten eingelegt sind, andere sind zusammengeheftet, wieder andere sind gebunden und wieder andere wurden in eine Vielzahl verschiedener Behälter gelegt. […] Assemblings stellte einen weiteren der fortgesetzten Angriffe auf die etablierten Machtstrukturen der Kunstwelt in dieser Zeit dar […] Die Assemblierungen kehrten das Vorrecht der redaktionellen Autorität vollständig um und stellten eine entscheidende Verschiebung der Rolle des Herausgebers hin zu der des Sammlers oder Kompilators dar.“ (Quelle : „Assembling Magazines (a.k.a. Seit 2014 nehme ich regelmäßig und gerne an unterschiedlichen Assembling Zines teil. Nachdem durch diverse Corona-Lockdowns das Versenden per Post in 2020 kaum möglich war, war es eine besondere Freude, in dieser Art und Weise 2021 wieder mit anderen Künstlern weltweit Kontakt aufzunehmen und Ideen und Arbeiten auszutauschen. Deswegen habe ich mich in diesem Jahr insgesamt 14 mal an folgenden Assembling Zines beteiligt.

This time: 100 copies, numbered and signed, on the theme of collectible magazines, in which I participated frequently in 2021.
Here is the text I wrote for it:
Assembling Zines
The concept of the Assembling Zine was developed in the late 1960s:
„Contributors submit a set number of copies of their work to a central editor, who in turn compiles one copy from each artist’s submissions into the final „assembled“ product, with the number of artists submitting work determining the number of pages in each assembler. The makeup of the final magazine varies, some have loose covers in which the pages are inserted, some are stapled together, some are bound, and some have been placed in a variety of different containers. […] Assemblings represented another of the continued assaults on the established power structures of the art world at this time […] Assemblings completely reversed the prerogative of editorial authority and represented a decisive shift in the role of the editor to that of the collector or compiler.“ (Source : „Assembling Magazines (a.k.a. I’ve been a regular and happy participant in various assembling zines since 2014. After various Corona lockdowns made it almost impossible to send by mail in 2020, it was a special pleasure to reconnect with other artists worldwide in this way in 2021 and exchange ideas and work. That’s why I participated in the following Assembling Zines a total of 14 times this year.

The Thread Of Her Story
Das ist mein Beitrag für das Sammelmagazin „Zine in a Box“ von TicTac Patrizia: 25 Originalarbeiten, für die ich meine Sammlung von alten Zwirnsternen verwendet habe, die aus einer Hinterlassenschaft einer älteren Dame stammen. Das Foto habe ich auf einem Flohmarkt während meiner Künstlerresidenz in Savannah (GA – USA) gefunden und für diesen Beitrag mehrfach kopiert. Alle Arbeiten sind signiert und nummeriert und nun auf dem Weg zu TicTac. Ich bin sehr gespannt auf die Beiträge der anderen.

This is my contribution to TicTac Patrizia’s assembling magazine „Zine in a Box“: 25 original works for which I used my collection of old twine stars that came from a legacy of an elderly lady. I found the photo at a flea market during my artist residency in Savannah (GA – USA) and copied it several times for this post. All work is signed and numbered and now on its way to TicTac. I am very excited to see everyone else’s contributions.

„Frauen sind kein Freiwild“
Mein Beitrag für „Art in a box“
Das ist mein Beitrag für Gina Geos Art in a box (Sammelmagazin) zum Thema FEMIZID – Tötung von Frauen und Mädchen aufgrund ihres Geschlechts. Kein leichtes Thema!
Für meine Arbeit „Frauen sind kein Freiwild!“ habe ich alte Schießscheiben / Zielscheiben mit Wildmotiven genutzt (von 1933) sowie Kopien einer Porträt-Faltkarte, die ich während meiner Künstlerresidenz in Savannah (GA – USA) auf einem Flohmarkt gefunden habe.
„Freiwild“ bedeutet im eigentlichen Sinne zur Jagd freigegebenes Wild. Heute wird der Begriff jedoch metaphorisch für Menschen verwendet, die der Willkür eines Menschen schutzlos ausgeliefert sind.
Diesen Text habe ich für das Cover der Faltkarte genutzt (Info für meine englischsprachigen LeserInnen)
Nun bin ich gespannt, was die anderen Teilnehmenden zu diesem Thema gestaltet haben.

This is my contribution for Gina Geo’s Art in a box (assembling zine) on the theme of FEMICIDE – killing of women and girls because of their gender. Not an easy topic!
For my work „Women are not fair game!“ I used original old shooting targets / targets with game motifs (from 1933) as well as copies of a portrait folding card that I found during my artist residency in Savannah (GA – USA) at a flea market.
„Free game“ in its proper sense means game released for hunting. Today, however, the term is used metaphorically for people who are defenselessly at the mercy of a human being.
I used this text for the cover of the folding card (info for my english speaking readers)
Now I am curious to see what the other participants have created on this topic.

Dieses Add & Pass Buch hat Geronimo Finn Anfang 2022 an mich gesendet, damit ich es mit einer Collage beginne und an den nächsten Teilnehmenden weiterschicke.
Dieses Buch ist Teil eines Projektes namens Add and Pass – PASSport collage project!, das Geronimo vor etwa 4 Jahren gestartet hat: Er versendet alte österreichischen Pässe, Spar- und Mitgliedsbücher an interessierte Teilnehmende mit der Bitte, je eine Doppelseite zu gestalten und an den nächsten Interessierten weiterzuschicken bis das Buch vollendet ist und dann an ihn zurück geschickt wird. Ich bin gespannt, ob es den Weg zurück schafft – leider scheinen viele Bücher verloren gegangen zu sein.

This Add & Pass book was sent to me by Geronimo Finn in early 2022 to start a collage and send on to the next participant.
This book is part of a project called Add and Pass – PASSport collage project! that Geronimo started about 4 years ago: He sends out old Austrian passports, savings and membership books to interested participants with the request that they each create a double page spread and send it on to the next interested person until the book is completed and then sent back to him. I’m curious to see if it makes its way back – unfortunately, many books seem to have been lost.

Am 9.6.2022 fand in der Korekta-Galerie im Zentrum Warschaus die Eröffnung der Internationalen Postkartenausstellung statt. Leider konnte ich selbst nicht anwesend sein – die Fotos der Vernissage sind alle von Anna Kłos. Nicht nur die Idee auch die Hängung und Präsentation gefallen mir ausserordentlich gut.
Die Ausstellung wird bis zum 5. Juli dauern.

On 9.6.2022 the Korekta Gallery in the center of Warsaw hosted the opening of the International Postcard Exhibition. Unfortunately, I myself could not be present – the photos of the opening are all by Anna Kłos. I like not only the idea but also the hanging and presentation.

Alle Teilnehmenden sind unten alphabetisch aufgeführt
Hierfür habe ich zwei meiner Nymphen verwendet, die ich Anfang letzten Jahres kreiert habe. Die Originalgröße beträgt 50×70 cm. Damit ich sie als DinA5 Postkarten verwenden kann, habe ich das Repro auf 84 x 59,2 cm vergrößert.
Jeder Satz enthält 16 Postkarten sowie eine Übersichtskarte, auf der das gesamte Motiv und die jeweiligen Ausschnitte markiert sind – insgesamt also 34 Postkarten.
Für die Rückseite habe ich folgendes verwendet:
* Kopien von Liebesbriefe aus dem 1. Weltkrieg (Feldpost) von Johann an seine Verlobte Paula Rosenberg
* polnische Briefmarken
* meine selbst gestalteten Dada-Stempel: Hannah Höch, Kurt Schwitters, Hugo Ball, Dada rules the world
* meinen Signaturstempel.
Im Portfolio am Ende des Artikels sind die Übersichtspostkarten mit dem unzerschnittenen Originalmotiv zu sehen sowie eine exemplarische Rückseite.

For this I used two of my nymphs, which I created earlier this year. The original size is 50×70 cm. In order to use them as DinA5 postcards, I enlarged the repro to 84×59,2 cm.
Each set contains 16 postcards plus an overview card on which the entire motif and the respective cutouts are marked – a total of 34 postcards.
For the reverse side I used the following:
* copies of love letters from WW1 (field mail) from Johann to his fiancée Paula Rosenberg.
* Polish postage stamps
* my self-designed Dada stamps: Hannah Höch, Kurt Schwitters, Hugo Ball, Dada rules the world
* my signature stamp.
In the portfolio at the end of the article you can see the overview postcards with the uncut original motif as well as an exemplary reverse side.

Attic Zine No.22 – Blue
Ich freue mich sehr, nun zum vierten Mal bei Nicola Winborns Sammelmagazin ATTIC ZINE dabei zu sein. Diesmal lautete das Thema “Blau“. Jeder der 12 Teilnehmende musste dafür 20 Original Arbeiten in der Größe 13,5 x 20 cm erstellen. Daraus stellte Nicola ein Sammelmagazin mit je einer der Originalarbeiten in einer Auflage von 20 zusammen.
Hier ist die Auflage Nr. 17 von Attic Zine 22 zu sehen sowie alle einzelnen Beiträge und ein Überblick über meine 20 Original-Collagen „out of the BLUE“.

I’m very happy to be part of Nicola Winborn’s assembling magazine ATTIC ZINE for the fourth time now. This time the theme was „Blue“. Each of the 12 participants had to create 20 original works in the size 13.5 x 20 cm. From these, Nicola put together a collector’s magazine with one of each of the original works in an edition of 20.
