Das Osthaus Museum Hagen zeigt noch bis zum 31.1.2021 die Ausstellung ¿Lebensecht?
50 Jahre Hyperrealistische Skulptur, die mich sehr fasziniert hat. Die Ausstellung „zeigt – anhand von 25 internationalen Künstlern – eine einzigartige Auswahl an figurativen Skulpturen. Es ist die erste Ausstellung, die einen tiefen Einblick in die Entwicklung der hyperrealistischen Skulptur der letzten 50 Jahre gewährt und die verschiedenen Tendenzen in der Darstellungsweise des menschlichen Körpers thematisiert.
Seit den 1960er und 1970er Jahren beschäftigten sich unterschiedliche Bildhauer mit dieser Form des Realismus, der die lebensechte Erscheinung des menschlichen Körpers zum Vorbild hat. Durch den Einsatz traditioneller Techniken, wie dem Modellieren, Gießen sowie der anschließenden Bemalung schufen sie hyperrealistische, menschliche Abbilder und näherten sich dabei auf unterschiedliche Weise einer zeitgenössischen Form des figurativen Realismus an. Besonders hat mich die Skulptur  „Figure on Bed with Camera and Weapons“ – 2013 – von Thom Puckey: Zunächst aus Ton modelliert und in Gips gegossen wurde die Skulptur von dem Künstler und seinem Team in einem mehr als einjährigen Prozess aus einem einzigen Marmorblock gefertig.
Die Ausstellung ist ABSOLUT SEHENSWERT!

The Osthaus Museum Hagen is showing the exhibition ¿Lifelike?
50 years of hyperrealistic sculpture, which fascinated me very much. The exhibition  „shows – based on 25 international artists – a unique selection of figurative sculptures. It is the first exhibition to give a deep insight into the development of hyper-realistic sculpture over the past 50 years and to address the different tendencies in the way the human body is represented.
Since the 1960s and 1970s, various sculptors have been dealing with this form of realism, which is modeled on the lifelike appearance of the human body. By using traditional techniques such as modeling, casting and subsequent painting, they created hyper-realistic, human images and thereby approached a contemporary form of figurative realism in different ways.
The exhibition presents the multifaceted approach to the representation of figural realism in five central groups and shows how the view of human physicality is subject to continuous change. […] This exhibition is a cooperation with the Institute for Cultural Exchange, Tübingen.“ (Source)
I was particularly impressed by the sculpture „Figure on Bed with Camera and Weapons“ – 2013 – by Thom Puckey: Initially modeled in clay and cast in plaster, the sculpture was created by the artist and his team in a process lasting more than a year from a single block of marble.
