Bound an Unbound – Exhibition
Lynn Skordal und ich kollaborieren seit 2013 und haben schon 125 Collagen und diverse Sonderprojekte zusammen gemacht, u.a. haben wir auch zwei Bücher im Rahmen meines Projektes „Die ungleichen Zwillinge“ gestaltet. Ich freue mich sehr, dass nun eins unserer Zwillingsbücher, „I love the little Fishes“, in der jurierten Ausstellung „Bound an Unbound VII – Altered Book Exhibition “ – University of South Dakota, Vermillion, USA – gezeigt wird.

Lynn Skordal and I have been collaborating since 2013 and have already made 125 collages and various special projects together, including designing two books as part of my project „The Unequal Twins“. I am very happy to announce that now one of our twin books, „I love the little Fishes“, will be shown in the juried exhibition „Bound an Unbound VII – Altered Book Exhibition “ – University of South Dakota, Vermillion, USA.

Bei meinem Besuch des Bonnefanten Museums Maastricht (NL) habe ich mir die Mail Art Ausstellung „Alles, was hereinkam, bekam eine Antwort, das VEC-Archiv von Rod Summers“ angeschaut. (01.07.2023 – 01.04.2024)
„Im Mittelpunkt der Ausstellung stehen „Eingehende Post“ und „Ausgehende Post“, in denen die zuletzt erhaltenen Mail-Art-Stücke und die Werke gezeigt werden, die Rod Summers als Antwort verschicken wird.
Es wird geschätzt, dass das Archiv derzeit über 15.000 Kunstwerke aus der Zeit von 1973 bis heute enthält – eine erstaunliche Zahl, wenn man bedenkt, dass jedes von Rod Summers erhaltene Objekt mit einem Originalwerk von ihm selbst beantwortet wird. Summers betrachtet das VEC-Archiv als die Hälfte eines Gesamtkunstwerks, während die andere Hälfte, von ihm verschickt, über die ganze Welt verstreut ist.
Die Ausstellung zeigt einen Querschnitt des VEC-Archivs, darunter Werke von Anna Banana (CA), Vittore Baroni (IT), John M. Bennett (US), Teatske Burgerjon (BE), Ryosuke Cohen (JP), Mike Dyar ( USA), HR Fricker (CH), Helenka (Polen), Magda Lagerwerf (NL), Brian Lane (UK), Tohei Mano (JP), Raul Marroquin (CO), Marlies Mulders (NL), Katarina Nikoltsou (GR), Jürgen O. During my visit to the Bonnefanten Museums Maastricht (NL), I had a look at the Mail Art exhibition „Everything that came in got an answer, the VEC archive of Rod Summers“. (01.07.2023 – 01.04.2024)
„Incoming Mail“ and „Outgoing Mail“ are the focus of the exhibition, showing the most recently received mail art pieces and the works Rod Summers will send in response.
It is estimated that the archive currently contains over 15,000 artworks dating from 1973 to the present day – an astonishing number considering that each item received by Rod Summers is responded to by an original work of his own. Summers considers the VEC archive to be half of a total artwork, while the other half, shipped by him, is scattered around the world.

Fundstücke im Bücherschrank
Glück gehabt! In einem kleinen Dorf im Schwarzwald habe ich in einem öffentlichen Bücherschrank diese wunderbaren Anatomiebücher gefunden. Sie waren dort wie für mich bereit gelegt. Ich freu mich schon auf die nächsten Projekte.
Lucky me! In a small village in the Black Forest I found these wonderful anatomy books in a public bookcase. They were there as if laid out for me. I’m already looking forward to the next projects.

Ausstellung Sulfur Studios (USA)
Ich freue mich sehr, an Axelle Kieffers Collage-Kollaborations-Ausstellung PAPER CUTS in der Sulfur Gallery, Savannah (GA) USA, mit 5 unserer Kollaborationen (siehe unten) teilzunehmen. Es wird einen Katalog geben, darauf bin ich schon sehr gespannt.
Vielen Dank an Axelle für die Einladung zur Teilnahme, für eine weitere wunderbare Zusammenarbeit und für all die Arbeit, die Du investiert habt.
Eröffnung am 01. September – 17-19 Uhr
In dieser Ausstellung sind über 30 Künstler aus der ganzen Welt vertreten, von Savannah, Georgia im Südosten der USA bis Irland, Deutschland, Frankreich, den Niederlanden, Spanien, Österreich, Kanada, Polen, Belgien, der Tschechischen Republik und Südafrika.
Die ortsansässige Künstlerin und Ausstellungskuratorin Axelle Kieffer hat seit 2019 an über 200 Collagen mitgearbeitet, die meisten davon auf dem Postweg. Dieser Kunstaustausch fordert die kollaborierenden Künstlerinnen und Künstler heraus, die anfänglichen Ideen, wie das endgültige Werk aussehen soll, zu interpretieren, zu erweitern oder komplett zu verändern. Während des Prozesses entsteht ein Ferndialog zwischen zwei (oder mehr) Künstlern, bei dem sie auf spielerische und überraschende Reaktionen auf ihre Beiträge stoßen, die sie aus ihrer Komfortzone drängen. Diese Arbeiten enthalten Bilder, die aus allen möglichen Ephemera stammen: Postkarten, Zeitschriften, recycelte Bilder, Fotografien und jegliches Material, das der Collage-Künstler zur Hand hat.

Zur Feier von Paper Cuts: An International Collage Exchange with Axelle Kieffer gibt ARTS Southeast einen vollfarbigen Katalog in limitierter Auflage heraus, der über 100 Werke der Ausstellung enthält. Die Publikation enthält auch Essays von Programmdirektor Jon Witzky und den Künstlern Carol White und Bernard Ellert.
Die Kataloge sind handnummeriert und werden in einer limitierten Auflage von 100 Exemplaren hergestellt.

This exhibition features over 30 artists from around the world; from Savannah, Georgia in the Southeastern US to Ireland, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Austria, Canada, Poland, Belgium, Czech Republic and South Africa.
Local artist and exhibition curator Axelle Kieffer has collaborated on over 200 collages since 2019, mostly through the postal service. These art exchanges challenge the collaborating artists to interpret, expand upon, or completely change the initial ideas of what the final work will look like. During the process, a long-distance dialogue between two (or more) artists is created, where they encounter playful and surprising reactions to their contributions, pushing them out of their comfort zone. These works include imagery harvested from all sorts of ephemera: postcards, magazines, recycled images, photographs, and any material the collage artist may have on hand.

In celebration of Paper Cuts: An International Collage Exchange with Axelle Kieffer, ARTS Southeast is producing a full-color, limited edition catalog featuring over 100 works from the exhibition. Essays from Program Director Jon Witzky, and featured artists Carol White and Bernard Ellert are also included in the publication.
Catalogs are hand numbered and produced in a limited print-run of 100.

Beitrag für
ZIGZAG Assembling Zine (E)
Zugegeben – ich bin im Sammelmagazin-Rausch. Zur Zeit habe ich sehr viel Freude daran, Beiträge für mir bekannte Magazine zu erstellen aber auch für solche, an denen ich bislang noch nicht teilgenommen habe. Das Zick Zack Zine von Alfonso Aguado Ortuño ist ein solches. 10 Original-Collagen in der Größe 10×10 cm mit einem Kürbiselement darin.
Ich bin sehr gespannt auf die anderen Beiträge und freue mich schon, das erste ZickZack in den Händen zu halten.
Admittedly – I am in an assembling magazine frenzy. At the moment I’m having a lot of fun creating contributions for magazines I’m familiar with but also for ones I haven’t participated in yet. The Zick Zack Zine by Alfonso Aguado Ortuño is one such. 10 original collages in size 10×10 cm with a pumpkin element in it.
I’m very excited to see the other entries and look forward to holding the first ZickZack in my hands.
