„Wipe ist eine kleine Sammelpublikation [organisiert von David Dellafiora], bei der Toilettenpapier das Medium ist. Die Verwendung eines nicht archivtauglichen, ja anti-archivtauglichen Mediums ist beabsichtigt, wobei die Vergänglichkeit und Zerbrechlichkeit des Mediums in scharfem Kontrast zu dem künstlerischen Interesse an archivtauglichen Materialien steht. Wipe ist als spielerische, leichtgewichtige Publikation konzipiert, um die Portokosten zu umgehen. Wipe ist eine Anspielung auf Duchamps Pissoir und fordert die Teilnehmer auf, mit einem Medium zu arbeiten, das fast gegen die Kunst gerichtet ist.
Die Beiträge stammen von ihrem eigenen Toilettenpapier, das an sich schon faszinierend ist und die Hygienepraktiken der verschiedenen Gesellschaften kommentiert. Trotz seiner beabsichtigten Vergänglichkeit erlaubt das Toilettenpapier das Stempeln, Nähen, Collagieren und sogar das Frotten. Wenn 20 Beiträge eingegangen sind, wird Wipe per Post an die Teilnehmer verteilt.(Text von Susan Hartigan)

„Wipe is a small assembling publication [edited by David Dellafiora] in which toilet paper is the medium. The use of a nonarchival, indeed anti-archival medium, is intentional, with the ephemerality and fragility of the medium insharp contrast with the artistic concern for archival materials. Conceived as a playful lightweight publication to circumvent postage costs, Wipe nods to Duchamp’s urinal and challenges contributors to make work on a medium that is almost anti-art.
Contributors source their own toilet paper, a source of fascination in itself and a comment on the hygiene practices of different societies. In spite of its intended ephemerality, toilet paper allows rubberstamping, stitching, collaging, and even frottaging. When 20 contributions are received, Wipe is distributed to participants by mail.(text by Susan Hartigan)

neues BOXEN-Projekt

Herzlichen Dank an Kevin Geronimo Brandnter für die Einladung, an seinem neuen Projekt teilzunehmen: Das Boxen-Projekt. Kevin beschreibt es so:
Das Boxen-Projekt – Eine Auseinandersetzung mit der Gegenwart. BOX 1 – Fundbox – Metall. Für diese Box sollen die Teilnehmenden 18 Gegenstände aus Metall auf der Straße sammeln und an Kevin senden. Er erstellt aus den Zusendungen Sammelmagazine in Boxen-Form;  jeder Teilnehmer erhält eine Box als Dokumentation.
Die Boxen sollen eine flüchtige Gegenwart festhalten. Sie sollen anregen sich mit den verlorenen Dingen auf den Straßen seiner Umgebung auseinanderzusetzen. Was bedeuten sie? Was werden sie einmal bedeuten?

Zu meiner Sammlung:
Die Düsseldorfer Altstadt wird als „Die längste Theke der Welt“ bezeichnet. Passend dazu habe ich dort einen Rundgang unternommen und in kürzester Zeit diese Kronkorken gesammelt.
Besonders hervorzuheben sind zwei Exemplare von alteingesessenen Düsseldorfer Brauereien (erste Reihe, 1 und 2 von links nach rechts): Die Kronkorken von „Füchschen Alt“ (seit 1848) und „Schlüssel“ (seit 1850). Es gibt viele Brauereien in Düsseldorf – weitere sehr bekannte sind Schumacher Alt, Uerige und Brauerei Kürzer.
Brauhäuser sind lokale Institutionen und gehören fest zu Düsseldorf und der Altstadt.
Meine Kronkorkensammlung hat demnach nicht nur Lokalkolorit sondern zeigt auch, wie vielfältig die Bier- und Getränkeauswahl in Düsseldorf ist – multikulturell sozusagen, wie das Leben in der Stadt.

Ich bin sehr gespannt darauf wie sich diese Projektidee entwickelt und auch auf meine Box mit ihren Metall-Fundstücken.

Many thanks to Kevin Geronimo Brandnter for the invitation to participate in his new project: The Boxing Project. Kevin describes it this way:
The Boxing Project – An exploration of the present. BOX 1 – Found Box – Metal.
For this box, participants are to collect 18 metal objects on the street and send them to Kevin. He will create boxed assembling magazines from the submissions; each participant will receive a box as documentation.
The boxes are meant to capture a fleeting present. They are meant to inspire to look at the lost things on the streets around him. What do they mean? What will they mean one day?

To my collection:
Düsseldorf’s Old Town is known as „The Longest Counter in the World.“ Fittingly, I took a tour there and collected these crown caps in no time.
Particularly noteworthy are two specimens from long-established Düsseldorf breweries (first row, 1 and 2 from left to right): The crown corks of „Füchschen Alt“ (since 1848) and „Schlüssel“ (since 1850). There are many breweries in Düsseldorf – other very well-known ones are Schumacher Alt, Uerige and Brauerei Kürzer.
Breweries are local institutions and belong firmly to Düsseldorf and the old town.
My crown cork collection therefore not only has local color but also shows how diverse the beer and beverage selection in Düsseldorf is – multicultural, so to speak, like life in the city.

I am very excited about how this project idea will develop and also about my box with its metal findings.

Mein Beitrag für Franticham´s Assembling Box (2023)

Franticham´s Assemblingbox ist eine A5-Box mit Beiträgen von 25 eingeladenen Künstlern, die Beiträge zum Thema visuelle Poesie, Collagen, Drucke, Multiples und Objekte kreieren. Daraus entstehen 40 signierte und nummerierte Boxen. Nur 15 Exemplare stehen zum Verkauf zur Verfügung – je eine Box erhalten die teilnehmenden Künstler.
Hier nun meine 40 nummerierten Original-Collagen als neuen Beitrag.  Zwar ist es stets viel Arbeit, die Beiträge zu erstellen, aber es lohnt sich, denn die Boxen von Francis und Ham sind wirklich immer wunderbar und der Mühe wert! Fünf mal habe ich nun schon gemacht – und nun bin ich auf die nächste Ausgabe gespannt.

Here now my 40 numbered original collages as a new contribution. While it’s always a lot of work to create the posts, it’s worth it because Francis and Ham’s boxes are really always wonderful and worth the effort! Five times I’ve done them now – and now I’m looking forward to the next edition.

Große Freude über die Einladung von S.A. Griffin & Bibiana Padilla Maltos zur Teilnahme an ihrem Sammelmagazin WOW NOW! Es war zeitlich sehr knapp, aber zum guten Schluß hat es noch geklappt – auf den letzten Drücker, sozusagen! Danke Bibiana für Deine Geduld!

Auf die Beiträge der anderen bin ich nun sehr gespannt.

I was delighted to receive an invitation from S.A. Griffin & Bibiana Padilla Maltos to take part in her assembling magazine WOW NOW! Time was very tight, but in the end it worked out – at the last minute! Thank you Bibiana for your patience!
Here is my contribution: 100 color prints in A5, numbered and signed.
I’m now looking forward to the contributions of the others.
