Beide gestalten eins der beiden Bücher als Starter, beide beenden das jeweils andere, so dass am Ende zwei Originale Bücher entstanden sind. Jeder erhält sein gestartetes Buch zurück. PAPA MAMA DADA
Ein Nachklang zur Ausstellung PAPA MAMA DADA in der Neuen Sächsischste Galerie Chemnitz: Frank Voigt, Petra Lorenz und Volker Lenkeit einen alten, sprechenden Papageienautomaten aufgestellt. Wirft man 1 Euro hinein so erhält man eine Kugel, in der sich eine Originalarbeit von Petra, Frank oder Volker befindet. Glücklicherweise hatte ich „zufällig“ einige 1 Euro Münzen dabei und habe dem Papageien wunderbare Dinge entlockt!
Frank Voigt hat mir einige wunderbare Geschenke gemacht: zwei bedruckte Postkarten von einer unserer Kooperationen, eine seiner Originalarbeiten UND zwei „art X Mail“ Stempel, mit denen ich nun auch art x mail Collaboration Briefe starten kann. Das fühlte sich für mich wie eine Art „Einweihung“ an. Wir werden sehen, wo das endet 😉
Vielen Dank Frank für diese wunderbaren Geschenke! Es ist (ein wenig) etwas auf dem Weg zu dir.

An echo of the exhibition PAPA MAMA DADA in the Neue Sächsischste Galerie Chemnitz: Frank Voigt, Petra Lorenz and Volker Lenkeit set up an old, talking parrot automat. If you throw 1 Euro into it, you get a ball with an original work by Petra, Frank or Volker in it. Fortunately I had „coincidentally“ some 1 euro coins with me and have elicited wonderful things from the parrot!
Frank Voigt gave me some wonderful presents: two printed postcards from one of our cooperations, one of his original works AND two „art X Mail“ stamps, with which I can now also start art x mail collaboration letters. This felt like a kind of „inauguration“ to me. We’ll see where it ends 😉
Many thanks Frank for these wonderful gifts! There is (a little) something on the way to you.

Vernissage / Opening
Vorgestern war die große Eröffnung der Gruppenausstellung „PAPA MAMA DADA – art x mail – Kollaboration und Mail Art Projekte“ in der Neuen Sächsischen Galerie Chemnitz – Museum für zeitgenössische Kunst, kuratiert von Frank Voigt, Petra Lorenz und Volker Lenkeit. Ich fühle mich sehr geehrt, dass mein Gemeinschaftsprojekt „Die Ungleichen Zwillinge“ ebenfalls ausgestellt wurde – in zwei Vitrinen und einer Dauerschleifen-Videoinstallation, in der ich durch alle Bücher blättere.
Die gesamte Ausstellung ist UMWERFEND! Es sind so viele wunderbare Gemeinschaftsarbeiten von so vielen Künstlern von der ganzen Welt zu sehen – aufwändig gerahmt und gehängt. So viel Arbeit! Während der Vernissage fand eine halbstündige Dada-Performance statt: Fünf Musiker und eine Schauspielerin gaben Dada-Lautgedichte und Dada-Musik zum besten – es war ein wahres Fest – die Reinkarnation des Cabaret Voltaire. Eine weitere Attraktion war der sprechende Papageienautomat, in den man ein 1 Euro Stück werfen konnte und dann, unter Papageingeplapper eine Kugel mit einem Originalkunstwerk von Frank, Petra oder Volker bekam. Da ich um diesen Apparat wusste, habe ich entsprechend viele Münzen mitgebracht – und es gab keine Nieten!
Die für mich wirklich weite Anreise hat sich zu 100% gelohnt. Nicht zuletzt, weil ich nach so vielen künstlerischen Zusammenarbeiten auch endlich Frank, Petra und Volker persönlich kennengelernt habe!
Die Ausstellung läuft vom 5. März bis 12. Mai 2019.

The day before yesterday was the great opening of the group exhibition „PAPA MAMA DADA – art x mail – collaboration and Mail Art Projects“ at the New Saxon Gallery Chemnitz – Museum for Contemporary Art, curated by Frank Voigt, Petra Lorenz and Volker Lenkeit. I am very honoured that my collaborative project „The Unequal Twins“ was included – showcased in two vitrines and as a video loop, me, browsing through all the books.
The whole exhibition is STUNNING! There are so many wonderful collaborative works by so many artists from all over the world – elaborately framed and hung. So much work! During the opening a half hour Dada performance took place: Five musicians and an actress gave Dada sound poems and Dada music for the best – it was a true celebration – the reincarnation of Cabaret Voltaire. A further attraction was the talking parrot automat, into which one could throw a 1 euro piece and then, under parrot chatter a ball with an original artwork of Frank, Petra or Volker got. Since I knew about this apparatus, I brought along accordingly many coins – and there were no rivets!
The really long journey was 100% worth it. Not least because I finally got to know Frank, Petra and Volker personally after so many artistic collaborations!

Flying Glue Book featured in

Das Flying Glue Book Project ist ein Mail Art Projekt, dass 2013 von Julien Ratouin-Lefèvre ins Leben gerufen wurde und 2016 von Carol White und Ted Tollefson als neue Administratoren übernommen wurde. Im Februar 2017 waren unter ihrer „Regie“ wieder sieben reisepassgroße, von Ted Tollefson handgestaltete Bücher unterwegs. Die weltweit teilnehmenden Künstler gestalteten jeweils eine Doppelseite mit einer Original-Collage und schickten das Buch dann zu dem nächsten weiter. Vier der sieben Bücher haben die Runde gemacht und sind, vollendet, and Ted zurück gekommen – drei sind leider verloren gegangen.
Bereits Anfang 2018 hat das KOLAJ Magazine, DAS Magazine für zeitgenössische Collage (unbezahlte Werbung), einen Artikel über das Projekt veröffentlicht. 20 Künstler wurden darin repräsentativ für das Projekt vorstellt (und erfreulicherweise war ich eine davon).
Ted Tollefson hat nun ein Buch herausgebracht, dass alle Beiträge aus den Büchern von 2016 bis 2017 beinhaltet – 7 Bücher – 73 Teilnehmer. Es ist ganz wunderbar anzuschauen. Es ist käuflich zu erwerben und ich kann es nur empfehlen (unbezahlte Werbung).
KOLAJ Magazine hat darüber erneut einen Artikel veröffentlicht, den ich mir erlaubt habe, hier „kopiert“ zu reposten. In dem Artikel wird das Projekt beschrieben und die Doppelseite gezeigt, die Axelle Kieffer gestaltet hat. Erfreulicherweise bin ich in diesem Artikel erneut namentlich genannt – darauf bin ich, in aller Bescheidenheit, ein bisschen stolz.
Meine gestaltete Doppelseite poste ich in meinem Artikel dann auch noch einmal.
Was für ein tolles Projekt – ich freue mich sehr darüber, dabei gewesen zu sein! Vielen Dank an Ted Tollefson und Carol White für all die Arbeit!

The Flying Glue Book Project is a mail art project launched by Julien Ratouin-Lefèvre in 2013 and taken over by Carol White and Ted Tollefson as new administrators in 2016. In February 2017, seven passport-sized books hand-made by Ted Tollefson were on the road again under her „direction“. The artists participating worldwide each designed a double page with one original collage and then sent the book on to the next. Four of the seven books made the rounds and, completed, and Ted came back – three have unfortunately been lost.
In early 2018, KOLAJ Magazine, THE magazine for contemporary collage (unpaid advertising), published an article about the project. It featured 20 artists representative of the project (and fortunately I was one of them).
Ted Tollefson has now published a book that includes all contributions from the books from 2016 to 2017 – 7 books – 73 participants. It is quite wonderful to look at. It is for sale and I can only recommend it (unpaid advertising).
KOLAJ Magazine has again published an article about it, which I took the liberty to „copy“ here. The article describes the project and shows the double page that Axelle Kieffer designed. Fortunately I’m mentioned by name again in this article – I’m, in all modesty, a bit proud of that.

Es macht immer wieder Spaß, bei Art X Mail teilzunehmen! Dieses Mal bat mich Frank Voigt, ein Element eines 3D-Objektes zu collagieren. Ein von ihm gestaltetes Gegenstück wird montiert – und das Gesamtwerk findet Einzug in die Ausstellung PAPA MAMA DADA finden. Aber dazu später mehr!
